Rob Roy Hillclimb - the Blog

First published in 2005, the history of Rob Roy Hillclimb - the hill, the drivers, the cars is a history that spans every meeting held at Rob Roy from 1937 to 1961. The Light Car Club of Australia and Bill Clinton, owner of Clinton's Pleasure Grounds combined to bring both cars and motor bikes to one of Australia's most historic hill climb venues. Over that period, it saw our great drivers compete in what today are the cream of Australia's historic racing cars.

As this blog progresses, it will tell stories of the events, the drivers and the cars that made Rob Roy Hillclimb so famous. Many of the stories and photos will be from the book but many will also be from my memories of the drivers I met and interviewed along the way - personal memories and thoughts of the drivers that shared their history at Rob Roy.

We'll take you through the very beginning when the LCCA were invited by Mr Clinton to develop his property for motorsport and to the very last meeting before the raging bushfires of 1962 that put an end to Rob Roy Hillclimb. That is until the MG Car Club resurrected the Hill to its former glory in 1992, 30 years after its demise.

I expect that I will post weekly for Monday mornings. On the side bar you can register as a follower and when you do, you can make comments. I hope that you do make comments as this adds to our history.
